New CPRA Lawsuit Served on SMCCD
On September 8, 2005, my attorneys served a verified complaint and petition to Santa Monica Community College District (SMCCD), demanding compliance under the California Public Records Act (CPRA). SMCCD, by and through its agents and employees, retaliated with a vengeance. On or about August 1, 2006, I served SMCCD and President Chui L. Tsang with a sixth request for public records belonging to Santa Monica College (SMC) and the Academy of Entertainment and Technology (AET) that was simply ignored.
So, exactly one year later, on September 8, 2006, I caused to be served on SMCCD and Chui L. Tsang a second lawsuit, once again demanding compliance with the CPRA. A court date, via motion, is set for November 17, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. in Dept. 85 of the Los Angeles Superior Court. Will the District now comply with the law and disclose these vital records or will they find more excuses to stonewall access to information? Furthermore, will the District continue to retaliate as a result? Only time will tell. To view the writ of mandate and other proposed orders and the complete legal index for SAVE SMC, please go HERE.
